- WHAT IS MOVING TO CHANGE?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
“Moving to change” (MTC) stems from Corte Ospitale<\/strong>‘s experience in developing innovative processes in the relationship between artists and communities. As a residency center, we believe that art residencies can be places for practices innovation, spaces where, through the creative process, it\u2019s possible to cross territories and create generative change. With this project, we want to go a step further, treasuring the place we inhabit: an ancient hospice for pilgrims from the 16th century, located in Rubiera (Italy), a town of 15 thousand inhabitants. With this call we are looking for 3 artists and 2 cultural professionals<\/strong> (A&CPs)<\/strong> from the performing arts<\/strong> who will be together in residence in Corte Ospitale for 30 days from 24.09.2024 to 24.10.2024<\/strong>. Through a month-long residency the artists will share their practices, get to know each other and build a lasting bond with the inhabitants. The dialogue between artists and inhabitants will be designed in an intercultural and intergenerational perspective to tell, through performing arts, a place perceived as a cultural heritage and to find a new sense of belonging, new perspectives and mindsets.<\/p>\n

FOR ARTISTS<\/u><\/strong>
\n<\/u>We are looking for:<\/p>\n– 1 senior artist, a perfoming arts artist expert in participatory processes with artists-communities<\/p>\n
– 2 juniors artists, under 30 performing arts artists interested in acquiring new tools in the relationship with communities<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The call is aimed at individual artists from the performing arts, not collectives or companies. Each artist is asked to participate with their own creative process, not with a ready-made show.<\/u><\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
FOR CULTURAL PROFESSIONALS<\/u><\/strong>
\n<\/u>We are looking for:<\/p>\n– 1 performing arts senior cultural professional, a performing arts curator experienced in participatory processes with artists-communities<\/p>\n
– 1 performing arts cultural professional junior under 30 interested in acquiring new tools in the relationship with communities<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
To be considered eligible, both artists and cultural professionals must meet these criteria:<\/p>\n
– Aged 18 +
\n– Active in the performing arts sector
\n– Legal Residents in one of the 40 Creative Europe countries, except Italy<\/strong>:<\/p>\nAlbania, Austria, Armenia, Belgium, Bosnia- Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia, and Ukraine.<\/em><\/p>\n

– Attendance is required in Corte Ospitale for the entire period from 24.09.2024 to 24.10.2024. This is the residency duration. Participating A&CPs can leave their place of legal residence up to 15 days before the start of the residency project and go back to their place of legal residence maximum 15 days after the end of the residency project, depending on their needs, and in agreement with the host.
\n– English language proficiency is required. The relationship with the community will be managed by the referring mentor who will also handle translation when necessary. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

- WHAT WE OFFER<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
Corte Ospitale is a residence center<\/strong> located in Rubiera, a town between Reggio Emilia and Modena in the heart of Emilia Romagna (Italy). It\u2019s a 16th century monumental complex, that was once a place of rest, care and refreshment for pilgrims travelling along the Via Emilia. Since 2000, after careful restoration, it has been used as a cultural center by the Municipality of Rubiera. Inside the Ospitale there are now four rehearsal rooms, a guesthouse with about seventy beds and a fully equipped kitchen.<\/p>\n
These are the conditions guaranteed for each selected A&CPs:<\/p>\n
– board and lodging will be provided by Corte Ospitale: each participant will have a single room with private bathroom<\/strong> and a shared kitchen<\/strong> will be made available.<\/p>\n
– Each participant will receive a mobility grant<\/strong> as follows: 25 euros per day for each day of residency + a travel grant between 350 and 700 euros (the exact amount will be agreed with the structure depending on the distance km from the place of residency and the sustainability of the trip). Payments will be made in three tranches: before, during and after the residency project.<\/p>\n
– If applicable top ups are provided for specific situations (green mobility, family, expenses visa, disability…). Top-ups will be agreed upon individually with the host once selected.<\/p>\n
– A mentoring programme will be provided.<\/p>\n

- MENTORING<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
Two mentors are planned for the project:<\/p>\n
– one figure is part of the host team and will follow the entire creative process, creating connections between hosted A&CPs and the communities involved in the project and acting as a linguistic and cultural mediator. This is Silvia Ferrari<\/strong>, a curator and professional facilitator, founder of mooncult (www.mooncult.it\/en), a project that deals nationally and internationally with participation and co-design in the cultural sphere.<\/p>\n
– another figure involved as a mentor will be an external figure, a senior curator with diverse experience in curatorial and performance field (Annalisa Sacchi<\/strong>, Director of the Master\u2019s Degree Course in Theater and Performing Arts, Iuav University of Venice). This figure will be involved as a trainer in the first part of the residency.<\/p>\n

- STRUCTURE<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
Two online preparatory meetings are planned between June and July 2024:<\/p>\n
– June 12, 2024 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. ;
\n– One and a half hour meeting to be determined with participants in July 2024.<\/p>\nDuring the 30-day residency, the A&CPs will meet with each other and meet with the local community from an intergenerational and multicultural perspective. A final outcome is planned, not a finished artistic product, but a moment of encounter open to the community, a collective party celebrating the relational process that took place in the preceding weeks. <\/strong><\/p>\n

- Short Curriculum Vitae (a CV as a one\/two-page document with a summary of personal information and contact details, relevant education, and professional experience)<\/li>\n
- Artistic and creative portfolio (a portfolio focuses on the artistic and creative work. It includes examples of personal creations, projects, ideas, etc. It is not a Curriculum Vitae)<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

– For the senior A&CP<\/strong>, the participation in at least 3 participatory projects that involved artists and communities are required

The team of Corte Ospitale will select the 5 A&CPs. These will be the selection criteria:<\/p>\n
– For senior A&CPs:
\n<\/strong>CV and portfolio 10 points
\nExperience in participatory projects 10 points<\/p>\n– For junior A&CPs:
\n<\/strong>Letter of motivation 10 points
\nCV 5 points
\nThe selection will also be oriented toward multidisciplinary artistic languages.<\/p>\nAll the selected A&CPs must sign a participant agreement with the host, in which the role and responsibility of both parties is defined, as well as the process and format of transferring the grant to the A&CPs.<\/p>\n
